The progress of the times and the development of science and technology have naturally brought about changes in the market. If publication printing and packaging printing have always been the two important wings of the traditional printing industry, the main changes that have taken place in recent years are: the development of the Internet and the popularization of terminal reading have led to a sharp decline in the printing volume of publications; The status of packaging printing in printing is increasingly rising. If we don't look at the issue from a political perspective and simply compare industrial investment with the market value of enterprises, packaging printing has become an important player in the printing industry.
Structural changes: Packaging printing has become an important wing of the printing industry
In order to help analyze the changes that have occurred in the printing market, the author has created the following chart based on the information at hand:
The blue bar in this chart clearly tells us that 2011 was the peak of newspaper printing and distribution. Since then, the total printing volume of newspapers in the country has been declining step by step, and the printing volume in 2018 was only 46.54% of that in 2011. The red curve tells us that compared to the double-digit decline in 2014 and 2015, the slowdown has slowed down after 2017 and 2018. However, this does not mean that newspaper printing has stabilized. On the contrary, given that the postal department responsible for distribution often distributes morning newspapers together with other mail at noon to reduce distribution costs, this will further affect readers' subscription enthusiasm. Of course, corresponding to this is the continuous rise of digital reading methods, which is consistent with the introduction released by the China Academy of Press and Publication in Beijing on April 16th.
The data also tells us that among the books, newspapers, and magazines related to content printing, the proportion of newspaper paper in the total paper used for publication printing has always been more than half. Even in 2016, when newspapers experienced a significant decline, the total number of printed pages accounted for 57.69% of the total number of printed pages for content printing; In 2011, when newspaper printing volume was high, the total number of printed copies of newspapers accounted for 71.92% of the total number of printed copies of publications. The continuous decline in newspaper printing also seriously affects the survival of news paper manufacturing plants. In 1998, Han Song, a de ink paper factory jointly built by South Korea, the United States, and Singapore in Shanghai, fell into a difficult situation after a short period of prosperity, and had no choice but to shut down the production line.
